We Love Mini-Load Disposal Service

August 21st, 2010 | Posted in Design | No Comments

We’ve used some good disposal companies over the years  – WasteAway and MiniBins, to name two – but I’d like to say that Mini-Load is first-rate.  They are very quick to pick up and deliver, which is the main thing you want in a bin company.  Give them a call:  604.431.7701.

Surprising sunflowers

August 16th, 2010 | Posted in Design | No Comments

Last year I had planted a handful of sunflower seeds in the neighbouring traffic circle.  This year I didn’t do as much with the circle, and there was a corresponding lack of sunflower seeds planted.  But I was surprised yesterday to remove a few spent Rose Campion plants and find two marvelous dark red sunflowers just beginning to bloom!  A late-summer treat, unexpected but certainly welcomed…

I’ve fallen in love with metal!  We’ve used it recently, in combination with cedar, on two screen-and-arbor projects:  copper, fabricated to wrap around a post or beam.  It looks great.  I’ll dig out the pictures for you soon.  MD

Summer Green Thoughts

August 4th, 2010 | Posted in Thoughts | No Comments

I help take care of a traffic circle near where I live.  It looks pretty exhausted right now.  That’s partly because of the lack of rain, but also because most of the plants arrived via nature and it seems that nature likes spring flowers!  So much of it is spent.  Some work to do, to be sure.  WLD
